Take with meals containing protein

Stomach acid is a very good thing for our gut/brain axis and… we don’t want too little or too much. We want our personal individualized dose for optimal digestion.  Dosage of Ignition🔥Aid is typically based on the amount of protein consumed. Higher amounts of protein require more stomach acid for digestion and dosing can significantly vary. The goal is to find your optimal dosage to improve digestion without causing discomfort.

Optimal dosing depends on the integrity of your mucosal barriers and the nature of your meal. You might do well with anywhere from 1 capsule per 5g of protein to 1 cap per 30g of protein. I typically take 1 capsules per 10g of protein.

How do I know how much protein is in my meal?

A serving of lean meat or fish that is about the size and thickness of a deck of cards is roughly equivalent to about 20 grams of protein. This is by no means always the case, so if you know the weight of a piece of mean, you can ask ChatGPT how much protein is in it or use a tool like Cronometer to determine the protein content in the food. Both of these tools are free, and you can get a food scale for less than $10 from Amazon.

How to Find Your Personal Optimal Dosage of Ignition🔥Aid

– Start small: Begin with 1 cap with a meal containing at least 20g of protein. – Gradually increase: If you do not notice any discomfort, increase the dose by one capsule at your next meal with a similar amount of protein. Continue this process until you feel a noticeable change. – Identify your dose: — If you experience a burning sensation: this is the one time that I will recommend an antacid like Tums (not a PPI), or just take ½ teaspoon of baking soda with water to get rid of this sensation. Reduce your dosage my one (1) capsule for your next meal. This lower dose is likely your ideal amount for that amount of protein. — If you feel great digestion without discomfort, the current number of capsules is your optimal dose for that amount of protein (you may do better with a higher dose for meals with more protein and a lower dose for meals with less protein). — If loose stools occur, reduce the dose by one capsule to find your balance.

  1. Initial Testing:
    *Do not use Ignition🔥Aid if you have active ulcers, gastritis, or if you are on prescription steroid medications.
    • Step 1: Start with one capsule per meal with at least 20g of protein, to assess your tolerance.
    • Step 2: If you tolerate this well, proceed to the next step. If you don’t tolerate this well, Ignition🔥Aid is not for you. Go to “If you experience a burning sensation” below.
  2. Gradual Increase:
    • Step 1: Start with one capsule per twenty grams of protein in your meal.
    • Step 2: Monitor how you feel after meals. If you experience no discomfort and your digestion feels improved, you can increase the dosage.
  3. Adjusting Dosage:
    • Increase: Gradually increase to one capsule per twenty grams of protein in your meal.
    • Monitor: Pay close attention to your body’s response. If digestion improves and there are no adverse effects, this might be your optimal dosage.
    • Further Increase: If needed, you may want to increase up to one capsule per five grams of protein (my dosage is one capsule per 10g of protein).
  4. Identify your dose:
    • If you feel great digestion without discomfort, the current number of capsules is your optimal dose for that amount of protein.
    • If loose stools occur, reduce the dose by one capsule to find your balance.

Heal Your Brain with Nutrition

“How to Feed a Brain is an important book. It’s the book I’ve been looking for since sustaining multiple concussions in the fall of 2013. I’ve dabbled in and out of gluten, dairy, and (processed) sugar free diets the past few years, but I have never eaten enough nutritious foods. This book has a simple-to-follow guide on daily consumption of produce, meat, and water.

I appreciate how Cavin writes about important concepts, such as leaky gut and glial cells, in a clear and concise manner.

There are a large number of people attempting to recover from brain injuries that are lacking the right information on nutrition. Thanks to Cavin and his team, we have this book now.

I look forward to eating my quality vegetables, proteins, and fats every day now as I know that they will help my brain to heal.
